Background

I have been a photographer since 2002. Different types of photography each bring their own unique challenges and joys. The styles I enjoy most are abstract, street and people photography. Current projects concentrate on portraiture, figure studies and "alternative" work, i.e. goth, fetish, metal, etc. That said, I still enjoy diversity and I'm happy to turn my hand to anything which piques my interest or which challenge me creatively.

It is said that the true art of photography is not to take a spectacular subject and create an ordinary image, but to take an ordinary subject and create a spectacular image. This philosophy drives my work, with one caveat: to take a spectacular subject and create an image which remains spectacular yet uniquely my own also provides great enjoyment.

Digital and film both have advantages and disadvantages. Which I use depends on which is best suited to the particular circumstances. Likewise, I will shoot in studio or on location, whichever is best suited to the images I wish to create.

I have been a member of the Shannon Camera Club since 2003. This is a wonderful group of fellow enthusiasts whose kindness and willingness to share knowledge and experience has helped me to grow as a photographer.

I am based in Co. Clare on the west coast of Ireland. You can find more details on how I work here and what you can expect if shooting with me. This covers the questions that regularly come up when I start planning a shoot with somebody new. Feel free to contact me if there's anything else you'd like to know.
